Giving Back to the Community

Perry Studios prides itself on giving back to the community. Starting with a strong involvement in 2002, Perry Studios has aided in raising over $40,000 in the community of North Vernon, Indiana. From benefits for the re-opening of the Park Theatre Civic Centre to an annual concert that helped raise over $9000 in its first year for the Stephen E. Jones Music Scholarship. We believe in helping those who have helped us, and North Vernon gave us our start as a company.

The Park Theatre Civic Centre, which has reopened in downtown North Vernon, has become the gem of Southern Indiana as it showcases arts of all types in a previously-underserved area. The Park originally opened in 1916 with vaudeville shows, eventually becoming a movie house that closed in the 1960s. With a $1.1 million renovation and the help of many across the community, it reopened its doors in 2003 to much acclaim. Still going strong today, Perry Studios is proud to be a part of that restoration and operation.

The Stephen E. Jones Music Scholarship was started in memory of long-time choral director and good friend Stephen Jones, who lost a short battle with cancer in June 2005. Influencing the entire community through song, Jones' family teamed with Brian Perry to produce and direct Stephen's Favorite Songs, a benefit concert allowing his former students to give back with their talents. The first two annual concerts, extremely well received by the community, has raised over $15000 to date and continues to benefit the scholarship today. Stephen's Favorite Songs is an annual event that will be held at the Park Theatre every Spring.
